Cabling

MHARNESS has several different cable categories and cable options that can be used to build a cable harness system:

  1. Overbraid Image 16png   Overbraid

  2. Shield Image 16png   Shield

  3. Conductor Image 16   Conductor

  4. Twisted Cable Image 16   Cable

  5. Cable Group Image 16   Cable Group

  6. Import File Image 16   Import a .kbl harness

  7. Import File Image 16   Subharness

  8. Export Image 16   Export a user-created cable to a library

  9. Create Twisted Cables

  10. Terminations

Within each category, there are several pre-defined cable options from which to choose. EMA3D includes properties for a variety of common off-the-shelf cables including Coaxial, Twisted Shielded Pair (TSP), Twisted Shielded Triple (TST), and Twisted Shielded Quadrax cables whose parameters were experimentally measured. Note that cables are not twisted by default, even if the name implies. For twisted cables, users should follow the instructions on the Twisted Cables page.

In addition to these cables, MHARNESS allows the Import of complex harness layouts in .kbl format. KBL is a standardized data exchange format that emerged in the automotive industry and is available as an export option in many CAD tools for the harness design.

Different MHARNESS parameters can be configured. Details on configuring the harness settings are located within the harness Configuration page.
