There is only one keyword associated with the cable reference / ground section of the
MHARNESS® input file. This keyword is provided below. • SOURCEA variety of sources are available in MHARNESS. These sources include: Plane wave illumination Voltage sources Electric field sources Current sources
The excitation of an MHARNESS cable system can be broadly classified as either local or global. The current sources and electric field sources can be locally defined to drive a single conductor at one point, a portion of a single conductor, an entire conductor, or all conductors within a cable segment. Current sources and electric field sources can also be defined globally to drive the entire cable harness system. Any number of sources of any type can be applied.
MHARNESS is also fully integrated with the software program EMA3D in a self-consistent strongly coupled fashion enabling the electromagnetic environment computed with EMA3D to provide the sources required to drive MHARNESS. The currents generated on the conductors within MHARNESS in turn, affect the EMA3D electromagnetic environment.
Source waveforms can be read in from a data file or automatically computed by selecting a pre-determined waveform type and supplying the defining parameters. The pre-determined waveform types are listed below.
There are thirteen source types available in MHARNESS. These sources are listed below and discussed in separate sections to follow.
