Excitation

ribbon-excitation

The Excitation section contains the options for setting the electromagnetic sources used to excite the model.

There are several different types of sources available in EMA3D. Some are spatially extended sources while others are localized. An extended source is one that is defined to exist within a volume and is implemented using an equivalent surface that encompasses the volume. A localized source is one that is defined to exist at a single location or at many individual locations.

The extended sources are:

  1. Plane Wave Image 16 color   Plane Wave

  2. Nearfield Image 16 source   Near Field

  3. fieldsourceimage 16   Field

The localized sources are:

  1. Current Density Image 16 source   Current

  2. Voltage Source Image 16   Voltage

  3. Antenna Image 16   Thin Wire

A signal waveform must be assigned to each source. The signals can be defined using a source data file or a predetermined analytic waveform as described on the Signals page.
