Specialty

Presently there is only one specialty sources. This specialty source is the capacitor bank source. The keyword associated with the capacitor back source is provided below.

• CAPACITOR BANK SOURCE

The capacitor back source allows the definition of a capacitor bank that can be used to drive the model geometry. The implementation of this source requires the definition of some parameters. These parameters are listed below.

• Capacitance

• Inductance

• Resistance

• Initial Voltage

• Activation Time

The capacitance, the inductance, and the resistance are all inherent properties of a capacitor bank. The activation time is the time within the simulation that the capacitor bank is activated. In other words, when the switch is thrown.

The capacitor bank must be defined within the planar ‘C-Shaped’ geometry, as shown in the figure below. Each line of the ‘C-Shaped’ geometry should exist in a vacuum. The positive and negative electrodes should be attached to a load, or to wires or conductors leading to the load, as indicated in the figure. The impedance of the load, including any conductor leads, will affect the amplitude and shape of the injected waveform.
