Time

The Time properties allow for adjusting the time range and time step, the frequency range of interest, and the increment method for the MHARNESS simulation.

Entry

Meaning

Start [s]

The start time of the simulation. It is set to zero and it is not editable

End [s]

The final simulation time. End and Lowest Frequency are related by the equation:

Time 1

Therefore, changing either End or Lowest Frequency may cause the other to be automatically adjusted, as necessary

Step [s]

The finite difference time step. Step, Lattice Step Size, and Highest Frequency are related and constrained by the Courant Condition. Therefore, changing any of Step, Lattice Step Size, and Highest Frequency may cause the others to be automatically adjusted, as necessary

Lowest Frequency [Hz]

The lower limit of the frequency range of interest. End and Lowest Frequency are related by the equation:

Time 1

Therefore, changing either End or Lowest Frequency may cause the other to be automatically adjusted, as necessary

Highest Frequency [Hz]

The upper limit of the frequency range of interest. Step, Lattice Step Size, and Highest Frequency are related and constrained by the Courant Condition. Therefore, changing any of Step, Lattice Step Size, and Highest Frequency may cause the others to be automatically adjusted, as necessary

Stability Margin [%]

How far Step is from the maximum time step permitted by the Courant Condition. Adjusting the Stability Margin will adjust Step

Increment Method

Whether to use Constant (default) or Magnetostatic time steps

Magnetostatic Steps

The magnetostatic time steps and permittivity increase factors. Only applies if Magnetostatic is the selected increment method
